"Harry Potter and the goblet of fire"

It's getting dark here, kind of depressing feeling in the end, so I began to like the Weasleys even more. On the other hand, due to its thickness, there's no doubt more not-so-interesting parts, for instance, the Divination lessons. (to be continued... )

"Harry Potter and the prisoner of Azkaban"

This sets a new record: one and half day for a 450pp book~ I enjoy the parts with the Weasley family very much. The parents are so vividly like the general nice parents, and the children, each with specific character. That's really a joyful part in the whole story. One sentence I like very much (by Mr. Weasley):"We're no nearer catching Black than inventing self-spelling wands." Most of the book is based on multi-line of stories, which of course, interact with each other, to make it wonderful reading experience.

"Prince Caspian"

This is book 4 of the Narnia series, and the movie was just out last week. It's a simple and fancy story. The adventure would appeal to children a lot, although I may be too old to appreciate. It teaches children about belief, courage and loving heart. It's overall a good story.

"Harry Potter and the chamber of secrets"

I've never expected that I'd finish this book in three days! Only because it's so intriguing that I couldn't put down (well, also because I have nothing better to do...) This one has developed much more details and fancy events in the magic world based on the first one (the first book is more like an introduction now). It also reveals some background information of the dark lord. I look forward to the next book.

"Harry Potter and the sorcerer's stone"

This is a delight reading. No wonder it's so popular for these years. The fancy imagination, fast move writing, vivid conversations, all are very nicely grouped in this book. I have to admit it's more interesting than the Narnia story.

"The singing sands" by Josephine Tey

Almost exactly the first half of the book is kind of nonsense, only an introduction to the case and some casual initial investigation. It's (perhaps) mostly about the self-salvation of the inspector which I really don't care nor interest. The real story begins in the second half, when the inspector met the dead person's friend and began to track down the whole thing. The story behind the murder is quite fanscinating, but it's not difficult to guess how the murder is performed. The interesting part is how to reveal the bad man, given very few clues at hand.

This is a quick reading book, especially that I merely flipped through the first part and then couldn't put in down during the rest.

"Message in a bottle" - half book

I read the first half of the book, and probably will not read any more. It starts with an intriguing and beautifully written love letter picked up in a bottle from sea, and then 2 more similar letters are discovered. This leads the woman to find out the author of the letters and to see him in person. Then I stopped at perhaps the climax of the story, and then had no desire to continue. I think the story is ok, but I can't stand the slow-moving writing style. I hope I could learn what happened later and that's it.

"The lion, the witch and the wardrobe"

This is book 2 of the Narnia series, also the one that has a film based on. It's better than the first one, more charming and more intriguing. I'll try to see the movie too. I also look forward to the new Narnia movie (book 4).

"The magician's nephew"

This is book 1 in "The chronicles of Narnia". It's simple and short, since it's children's book after all. But it's interesting, since this is almost the only children's book I've ever read so far. The language is funny, good for children, and the contents are appealing too. As an adult, I feel a little dull though. The best thing is that it's short and illustrated, so it does not require much patience to finish. I like it quite much overall.
